On Wednesday 4/29 at 8:52 PM the TAVFD received a report of a semi-truck off the road on HWY 160 approx. 1/4 mile west of CR 817.
The first unit on the scene reported a fuel truck (approx. 8000 gallons) off the road on its driver’s side. The scene size up indicted a number of issues that required immediate action.
• Driver injuries;
• an active HazMat
• the need for securing the scene and nearby area.
It was clear that this was a complex incident requiring coordination among multiple agencies and field operations.
Volunteer firefighters were on scene throughout the night and into the next morning working with local, county, state agencies and contractors
