Class Act Cougar: Rylan Adair

Congratulations to Trinity senior Rylan Adair, who has been nominated as a Class Act Cougar by Mrs. Brooks for demonstrating Trinity’s value of Servant Leadership.

Rylan was recently selected as one of only 16 students from across the state of Indiana to serve on the TechPoint Foundation for Youth Student Advisory Council. TechPoint Foundation for Youth is a statewide organization dedicated to providing Indiana students with hands-on learning opportunities that increase knowledge and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The organization works to inspire young people to explore future STEM and technology careers through innovative programs and experiences.

As a member of the Youth Advisory Council, Rylan will have the opportunity to share his perspective and provide valuable insight that can help TechPoint Foundation for Youth better serve students and communities throughout Indiana. His willingness to step forward, share his voice, and use his gifts and talents to benefit others is a wonderful example of Servant Leadership.

We are proud of the way Rylan represents Trinity both inside and outside of our school community. Congratulations, Rylan, on this tremendous honor!

Keep growing, leading, and using your talents to make a difference!

Post hole digger handles are being made at Seymour Manufacturing in 1967.

The company, established in 1873, was the largest producer of this product at the time, making 70% of all post hole diggers in the United States. Other products manufactured there were snaths, hog rings, hydraulic valves, fireplace pokers and equipment, w**d cutters and cattle dehorners.

Also at the time, the company held the record for the longest, continuous manufacturer in the city and had the most diversified line of products. Plus, more hog rings were made there than anywhere else in the country.

Today, the company is still going strong, now known as Seymour Midwest.

**Employee Highlight Series**

Join us as we showcase the amazing individuals who make our local companies great.

Sept. 17 will mark four years of working at The Royal Group in Seymour for Kara Ellerman.

She started as a basic operator and now is a machine operator after learning how to run the various equipment at the facility. TRG specializes in manufacturing high-quality corrugated packaging, displays and graphics.

“Just a great attitude. She’s always smiling. She does a great job,” Paula Wilson, the company’s regional human resources manager and customer service manager, said of Kara.

Kara graduated from Seymour High School in 2015 and then worked for Home Products International in Seymour. Her roles included production, team leader and receiving clerk.

In 2022, she moved to The Royal Group. She now works there Monday through Thursday and Brownstown Greenhouse & Gifts on Fridays and Saturdays.

“My current boss there, Bobby Eldridge, he bought Seymour Greenhouse, and that was my grandma’s brother’s family,” Kara said. “My grandma was a Pardieck, so when it came up for sale, my boss bought it. I just feel like it’s kind of a sign of my grandma.”

Her duties include answering the phone, running the cash register and making deliveries.

“I am 95% on the phone talking to customers, taking orders,” she said. “I’ll make deliveries to funeral homes, to schools, to houses, to businesses.”

Kara said she’s a people person, so both of her jobs suit her well.

“I like to associate with people,” she said. “At the greenhouse, I brighten people’s day with flowers. Here, you will find me bringing in cookies, desserts, something.”

Kara moved to Brownstown in 2018 and still lives there today.
