I've been working on, building or restoring bikes since 1987. Started working for a place in Pekin Illinois, B&N making 80% of each job.
Times changed and now techs get on average $15-$20 bucks an hour.
When I opened my shop in Ozark Missouri in 1997 we charged $20 bucks an hour for shop labor and now are at $90 an hour for the past 5 years. It sucks, but we can barely afford to stay open at that rate and as of October 1st 2026 the rates are increasing to $120 an hour. Considering our local HD dealer is charging $169 an hour we think this is a fair increase after 5 years. We're all making sacrifices, but we want to continue to be your shop for as little as possible while still maintaining quality work we stand behind. Hopefully we see you all soon and thanks for understanding.

Hey guys,
I wanted to apologize and let you know our phone service has been hit and miss the last few weeks. It works through a base from Community Phone and after getting a new sim card and base it's still intermittent. They are checking today to see if it's a tower issue or what else could be going on. Please bare with us and if you do get through to at least the answering machine please leave a message and we will contact you as soon as possible.

So this 89 Evo came in for a top end build. We immediately noticed all the studs were installed upside down as they were...

So this 89 Evo came in for a top end build. We immediately noticed all the studs were installed upside down as they were from the factory until 1994 when HD put out a notification saying they had changed this practice. Almost all had been over torqued and damaged the threads and were all seated at different levels from being over torqued. Reinstalling the new studs correctly with the rib facing down and it only took 14 ft lbs to tear the stressed out threads out of the cases. Please remember your Clinber manuals and Shop manuals 1994 and earlier are incorrect! Yes you can Google it.
