How much has a CP4 failure cost you before?

Ford continues to put the CP4 in the 6.7L Powerstroke. While the CP4 service life can be improved with fuel additives and making sure clean fuel is used, the CP4 will always carry the potential to wreak havoc on the entire fuel system. Complete fuel system failure can easily cost 12k or more. While the DCR is the best option to get rid of the CP4, it is important to at least have a disaster prevention kit to help prevent complete fuel system failure if the CP4 comes apart.

It will be a sad day when all of the 3.5L EcoBoost cam phaser jobs disappear. The updated style cam phasers continue to stand the test of time. Despite the notorious cam phaser rattle, the second generation 3.5L EcoBoost is a reliable engine by today’s standards. It offers a great mix of performance, reliability, and efficiency.
