Checking in from Boulder Creek Lodge and RV Park. RV Medic gives this place 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. A modest sized RV park with full hook ups or minimal power and water only to choose from. There is an on site RV dump. A shower/ bathroom/ laundry is situated conveniently near the RV spots. There are also over a dozen cabin rentals and tent spots. We recommend checking out the Chapel cabin or even the Conestoga wagon. Way cool!!
Doug and Jeannie are excellent hosts, offering a family friendly atmosphere and keep this place ship shape. The beautiful surroundings with 2 streams running through the property make it serene.
Philipsburg, MT is only 10 miles up the road and is the quintessential small Montana town with various fare and drink, plus the popular candy store.

I have accepted a new interim job and will not be making any more appointments this season. I want to thank all of my loyal customers who have trusted me with their RVs over the last 3 years. My business will remain licensed, certified and insured in case I need to do some work “moonlighting” or winterizing for those who are already on my list. Feel free to call with any questions or needs in the Seeley Swan valley. I may not be able to assist you personally but I can make a few recommendations.
Respectfully,

Stay cool during these hot days!
Preventive maintenance will save you lots of time and money just by simply cleaning and testing your rooftop AC units and vent fans before you put them to work.
1. Park where there’s shade in the heat of the day. If you have the choice, pick a spot with a few trees that will give you some shade. Even a 10° difference makes a big difference for comfort.
2. Clean your intake filter and coils on the AC unit. Airflow is a big deal. If it’s not running efficiently, it wont keep up with hot days.
3. Start early in the day by cooling down your interior. Open windows and run your 12v roof fans. By mid morning, when it starts warming up, close up your RV, turn off your exhaust fans and turn on your AC unit (assuming you have a generator or inverter or shore power). A hot AC unit takes a lot more energy to try to catch up with rising temps.
4. Utilize window coverings and exhaust fan insulation “pillows”. Reflectix (found at most hardware stores) is a great way to make insulated window coverings.

Your AC units will optimally give you about 20° difference output of cool air. If it’s 100°, you will likely see about 80° interior.

Happy camping everyone!!

Please be very cognizant of your furnace venting area. Your furnace vent can produce temps in excess of 450°F. In this case, a table was set outside and a coffee maker sat too close to the exhaust. Fortunately no major damage or fire took place.
Stay safe and happy comping!!

Ok folks. Let’s talk about dos and donts for your RV holding tanks.
#1. Do NOT use “RV toilet paper”. If you talk to any trained RV technician, they’ll tell you that this stuff actually causes more problems. It can turn into a gel-like substance and create clogs. I know, I’ve had to clean up afterwards. Its gets messy and costly.
#2. Don’t treat your holding tanks (black or grey water) like they are septic tanks. They are meant to be a temporary holding space for the waste. Products that claim to have breakdown enzyme effects are a gimmick. We personally use a homemade recipe mixture of pine sol, calgon beads and water. This deodorizes and makes the walls of the tank slick for better emptying.
#3. DO use plenty of water to dilute the mixture in the tanks. This is especially important in hot weather as the vents will allow quicker evaporation.
#4. When you get a chance, after emptying at the dump site, refill your tanks almost full and empty again. Then add a modest amount of clean water in the tanks (2-5 gallons) while your RV is not in use (summer months only). This prevents your tanks from drying out and any left over bits and pieces don’t crystallize and dry to your inner tank walls.
