Thanks for all your good wishes and thoughts and prayers.

In the way of Man Plans and God Laughs, Jim has not had his surgery. By the time we got to pre-op his heart was in atrialfibrulation and the surgeon refused to operate on him. Fortunately, within a few hours, his heart settled back to normal rhythm, as they were ready to do some procedure to check him for blood cots and electronically reset his heart rate. So after a long frustrating morning he was sent home with new meds, and no new surgery date. and he has to have the kidney surgery before he can have the spinal surgery and he's in so much pain he is desperate for the spinal surgery and the story goes on and on.
Think he's being told by a higher authority to nix the spinal surgery. But that higher authority is not providing anything for pain!!
So we're back home and he will be working on carburetors for a few more weeks at least . . .

Thursday, the 11th of June, Jim is having his left kidney removed for a Slow Growth renal tumor. Where we go from there will depend on the final biopsy results. We don't even know how long he will be in the hospital. The spinal fusion surgery is hopefully still in the future as his pain levels have become intolerable and he won't do drugs. But every thing depends on the results of Thursday's surgery. Won't be on line for much of the rest of the week, nor will we be on the phone. All things go well, Jim intends to continue doing Solex carburetors at a MUCH slower pace than we had been. Right now, we are sending all Zenith and fuel pump work over to Bruce Smith - www.cfi-auto.com. Don't think he does the detail we or Ed Fall did respectively, but right now, he seems to be basically the only game in town.

remember when Dad used to do Gymkhanas on the ice with his 356. Of course that was about 60 years ago when they were just cars

In early February, the famed F.A.T. International Ice Race came to the United States for the first time, and we were fortunate to be a part of this exciting event. Fresh snow, an incredible fleet of cars, and even better company all made this event one for the history books. Road Scholars and the In...

just a little venting here: First, Jim's spinal fusion has been postponed again as it seems he has a kidney problem. Kidney biopsy next week, removal in June, then, depending on result of biopsy, spinal fusion when kidney surgery healed.

So yeah, we've had a little bit of stuff on our mind here

meanwhile, not moving further on getting replacement Zenith tech trained and with Joe retired that falls on Jim and, see above

So last week a pair of carbs come back. blah, blah, blah, they are leaking at the jet cover, jet cover bolt thread boss stripped, they've not been touched since they were received, this is how we supplied them.

Carbs have a 2" SAE bolt in the jet cover. This is how we supplied them? They've not been touched? No wonder no one wants to take on Zenith restoration work.!

Its nice to hear the opinion of the event from someone who is not necessarily a Porsche-phile, and who thinks we are all, as Harry put it, Gucci Loafer wearers.

no matter your favorite Marque, there was an era when American Iron was spelled Mopar. In this case. Mopar means More parts.

There are thousands of spare parts to pick through, not to mention dozens of cars parked three-deep in one of the property's many buildings.

This car sure looks pretty. Is the big discount in price because its been restored and worked on so often? or because it was overpriced to begin with? Or is the high end softening? inquiring minds want to know.

Man in a Garage is the You Tube channel for a man in San Diego who has just started himself out on the journey of restoring Porsches as he couldn't find any one in the area who did the work. He's come in as Wayne Baker has retired and while I know there are a couple of other individuals down there doing the work, guess this guy never fell into that network. So he started his own.
