**8-10-2020 UPDATE** We receive dozens of messages everyday especially this time of year about the Dad key. The key still hangs in its’ place on the door. If you want some amazing stories of love and hope, read through some of the comments. People are truly amazing ❤️
**UPDATE 8-4-2019**: It has now been over 5 years since I posted this story. I continue to be in awe over the stories of love and hope that people continue to share. We’ve all lost someone we love. We all know what it’s like to hang on to those precious memories and sometimes items that bring us closer to our loved ones. The key still hangs on the door. I now believe that “Dad” is an angel to all of us, as a reminder that our loved ones who have left their earthly life are never really gone. They live forever in our hearts ❤️. Thank you to everyone who continues to be curious about the key.
UPDATE 8-1-2016: It has been 2 years to the day that I decided on a whim to post a picture of the missing key on our FB page. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined the response that we have had. The picture of the key has reached over 9 million people from countries all over the world. It has been shared as of this day 392,269 times. It has turned into more than just finding the woman who lost her beloved father's key chain. I've realized that this story is about human connection, love, hope, loss and miracles. People from all over the world have shared their stories of love and loss and the miracles in it all. I've followed many of these conversations. With all that is going on in the world today, I continue to be in awe of the one thing we humans need the most, to love and be loved. Sadly I do not have any exciting news, the key still sits in the same place as it has been all of these years. I took an updated picture of it today and I will post it, the engraving of DAD shows up better in this one. Thank you to all who have shared this picture, some of you have shared it more than once. Thank you also for all of the amazing stories that have been shared within this post. The key well remain in the same spot for as long as it is supposed to be there.
ORIGINAL POST: About 10 years ago a woman came to me at our pumpkin patch in Marietta, NY and said she had lost a key. She said she didn't care so much about the key even though it was a car key, but it was the keychain she wanted. I let her know that it hadn't been turned in but we'll keep our eye out for it. She didn't tell me the significance of the keychain. A few years later, the key was turned in. I remembered the woman but I had no contact info. for her. To this day I wish she would happen to be here and look at the big red barn door that the key has hung on all these years. It's difficult to see now, but on the keychain there is one engraved word, it says DAD. I'm positive this keychain meant so much to her. It will hang there until hopefully one day the woman finds it, or maybe will see this. The power of Facebook can be amazing.
