****UPDATE - INJURY ACCIDENT - 700 BLK W 27TH ST

Surveillance video has been obtained of the accident that occurred yesterday in the 700 block of West 27th Street. O’Ryan Marsh, 24 of Scottsbluff, was riding a 2011 Yamaha FZ6, traveling east on 27th Street when he struck a 2015 Lexus RX450 H. The Lexus has been pulling out of the Dairy Queen parking lot exit, and was turning west onto 27th Street. The Lexus was driven by Burdette Kister, 89 of Scottsbluff. Marsh was transported to RWMC by Valley Ambulance Services with critical injuries. Excessive speed on behalf of the motorcycle is believed to be a contributing factor. In light of numerous speed related contacts this summer, officers would like to remind the public about the following ordinance:

§ 22-2-61 UNLAWFUL SPEED; RIGHT-OF-WAY; FORFEITED.
The driver of every vehicle traveling at an unlawful rate of speed shall forfeit any right-of-way which he or she might otherwise have had under the ordinances of the city.

Scottsbluff PD was assisted in the investigation by Scottsbluff Fire Department, Valley Ambulance Services, and the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing at this time, and anyone with further videos of the crash are encouraged to turn them over to Scottsbluff PD. At the conclusion of the investigation, reports will be forwarded to the Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office for review of potential criminal charges.

New look for Scottsbluff Police Officers!

Chief Spencer has approved that uniformed officers are now authorized to wear department issued baseball style caps. The baseball hats are authorized to be worn for day-to-day field operations. Formal headwear will still be required for parades and other such events.
