More than 50 tall ships from 21 countries are expected to gather in Boston Harbor for this historic celebration. It’s a rare opportunity to see vessels that have crossed oceans, trained generations of sailors, and represent centuries of maritime tradition.

A tradition nearly 50 years in the making.

Since 1976, Sail Boston has welcomed some of the world’s most iconic sailing ships during major national celebrations. In 2026, the event returns as part of America’s 250th anniversary, making this edition one of the most anticipated in its history.

Opening day starts with an unforgettable entrance.

The Parade of Sail marks the official beginning of the event as dozens of tall ships sail into Boston Harbor together. It’s also the busiest day of the festival, so arriving early will give you the best chance to enjoy the experience.

Get ready to step aboard history.

Public boarding gives visitors the chance to explore many of the participating ships from the inside. Combined with demonstrations and festival activities, it’s one of the best days for families and maritime enthusiasts alike.

The Crew & Cadet Street Parade brings sailors from around the world into downtown Boston, celebrating the international spirit of Sail Boston. It’s one of the event’s most unique traditions and a favorite among visitors.
