If your axle is making popping noises and/or you were told your cv boot is torn its time to do something about it. This car was just bought from a dealer and sold to my customer like this. Worst I have ever seen. Thats literally metal on metal paste from being ground down in there for so long. Moral of the story. Dont ignore a torn cv boot.

Something interesting came into the shop today for a timing belt and tune up. 1993 Honda Acty, a Japanese Kei truck. While versatility is at its greatest for this size vehicle, it’s a tiny thing compared to modern vehicles….not to mention its big 660cc 3 cylinder engine! Fun fact our lawn mower has a 719cc diesel in it! I’ll have to get a pic with it next to the F250!

So when your mechanic recommends an oil change they are not just trying to make money off you. Oil is more critically important than it has ever been in modern engines but yet manufactures are stretching the intervals further and further. Change your oil with a high quality synthetic oil meeting the correct specs every 5000 miles. I dont care what the manufacturer says. Trust me when I say that oil changes are not a "money maker" for a shop. I am happy to perform them but they certainly dont make much money at all for the shop. Here is a little idea of what happens when you dont change your oil. This car now needs the engine replaced for many several thousands of dollars.

That oh shoot moment when you are doing a routine oil pan gasket due to a simple oil leak on a R53 Mini Cooper S and you drop the pan and are confronted by some "extra parts" in the pan. These engines have timing chain issues and it looks like the previous owner found that out but did not drop the pan to recover his broken peices of his chain guides
