WHATS THE BEST SWAP/TIME ATTACK ENGINE?
In your opinion, what is the best currently engine to swap into a time attack chassis. A handful of things need to be considered.
HP/TQ potential.
What’s the ceiling considering max effort of about 120-160 seconds
Reliability at elevated power. (This goes hand in and with above)
Cooling capability.
One of the downsides of small displacement engines is cooling potential due to lack of surface area. A 4 cylinder making 1000HP has more heat per cylinder than a 5.6 V8 making 1000HP. Even if they have the same power potential, one has more internal surface area to run coolant through.
Cost/Price to modify
There are some incredible engines available in the aftermarket, but staying budget mindful, we need to have part availability in a pinch. Our current platform is fully bespoke, all though it’s available to order off of our website. With the components having a fairly serious lead time, 4-8 weeks, we are looking for something reliable and available.
To make the engines handle upper level power numbers, 1000-1300whp with aero drag. The current NUMBER to be competitive with the FAST cars at World Time Attack Challenge is in the 1300WHP range. I know cars are competing with less, but to add more aero and drag, there needs to have reliable power to push through it.
Space/Size
What are the reasons others don’t choose this platform?
I will continue this post after you guys have replied. With our currently plans, having our sponsors on board will make things a bit easier. Thank guys.
