Lanolin based products offer some real advantages in the undercoating world.
1. Creeps into seams and crevices. It's a thin, self-wicking film that works into welds, lap joints, and pinch seams where rubberized coatings can't reach.
2. Displaces moisture. It can be applied over existing surface rust and damp metal, and it pushes out water instead of trapping it.
3. Stays soft and self-healing. It never hardens or cracks, so stone chips and flexing don't leave gaps for moisture to sneak under. Hard coatings can trap water behind a chip and hide rust forming underneath.
4. Easy to inspect and touch up. You can see through the film to the metal, and reapplying is just spraying over the old coat, with no stripping or prep.
5. Non-toxic and low-hazard. It's solvent-light compared to asphalt or rubberized undercoatings, with no heavy fumes or isocyanates, which makes it safer to apply and clean up.
6. Protects moving and electrical parts. It's safe on cables, hinges, springs, and connectors, where hard coatings would cause problems.
7. Good for fleet and equipment use. Annual re-application is quick and cheap, which suits recurring-service customers.
