WE’RE HIRING — AUTOMOTIVE CAD / DIGITAL MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST
SaltWorks Manufacturing is looking for an experienced CAD designer who understands how to turn an idea, a scan, or an existing vehicle component into a part that can actually be manufactured.
This is not just a drafting position.
We need someone comfortable developing both solid and surface models for high-end custom automotive projects, with a strong understanding of fit, function, manufacturability, and how parts actually go together on a vehicle.
What you’ll be doing:
• Solid modeling
• Surface modeling and complex automotive geometry
• 3D scanning and scan-data cleanup
• Reverse engineering existing components
• Developing parts from concept through production
• Designing components for CNC machining
• Designing components for 3D printing
• Developing tooling, bucks, forms, fixtures, and prototypes
• Preparing geometry for Digital Sheet Forming / DSF
• Creating assemblies and checking packaging, clearances, and fitment
• Working directly with our fabrication, machining, mechanical, and body teams
• Taking a part from physical vehicle → scan → CAD → prototype → finished component
Automotive experience is required.
You need to understand more than software. You should understand how cars are assembled, how fabricated and machined parts interface, and how a design decision in CAD affects the person building or installing the part.
Experience with Fusion 360 is strongly preferred. Experience with 3D scanning, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, surfacing, reverse engineering, and digital manufacturing is a major advantage.
We build one-off, high-end custom vehicles where many of the parts simply do not exist until we design and manufacture them.
