Some wings are just wings. This one has a nickname. 🌮
The 997.1 GT3 (2007–2008) wore one of the most recognizable rear wings Porsche ever bolted to a 911. Enthusiasts call it the "taco" wing, thanks to its bi-plane design: a split upper element that lets air flow through the middle for downforce without the drag penalty. Look at it once and you'll never unsee it.
Under that wing sat the legendary Mezger flat-six. 3.6 liters, 415 hp, and a redline of 8,400 rpm. Race-bred, dry-sumped, and paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual. No PDK. No compromises.
This was also the GT3 that brought PASM adaptive dampers to the formula, and that little slot in the nose? A center radiator outlet that pushes air up and over the car for front-end downforce.
Analog. Loud. Honest. Arguably the last GT3 of its kind to feel this raw.

Some of the coolest Porsches you'll never drive: hidden away for years in Weissach's design archive, only revealed to the public in 2020.
Swipe through a few of the "Porsche Unseen" hypercars, full-scale models built to explore bold ideas that never reached production. The 906 Living Legend plays with the illusion of two bodies fused together, with the gap doubling as a vent for the mid-engine. The Vision 918 RS pushes the 918 Spyder's hybrid formula even further. And the Vision 920 blurs the line between race car and road car with a central driving position.
These weren't rejected designs. They were never meant to be sold, just built to test how far Porsche's design language could stretch. Which one deserves a second look?

Gold wheels on a 911 are nothing new, Porsche just builds them better now.

The 996 Carrera 4S: the widebody 911 most people forget existed.
Porsche took the 996 Turbo's body, the flared fenders, the wide rear haunches, the whole stance, and dropped in the naturally aspirated Carrera flat-six instead of the turbocharged engine. No big rear wing, no turbo power, just the width and presence of the Turbo shape on a standard all-wheel-drive Carrera platform.
It's a formula Porsche never repeated in quite the same way. Later widebody Carreras borrowed styling cues, but the 996 C4S was its own thing: a Turbo-bodied 911 built around a naturally aspirated heart. That contradiction is exactly why it's become such a cult favorite among 996 owners today.

Porsche just built a real-life "Moby Dick" tribute, and it's road legal.
Meet the Flachbau RS: a one-off Sonderwunsch project built on a 991.2 911 GT2 RS with Weissach Package. Nearly three years in the making with Manthey, Style Porsche, and Weissach engineers, this thing reinterprets the legendary 935/78 Flachbau look with slatted front fenders, staggered LED headlights, and a GT3 R Rennsport-inspired rear wing that's manually adjustable for downforce.
Grand Prix White paint, exposed carbon, matte black accents, and a stripped interior that ditched the PCM and audio system entirely for weight savings. Even the wiring harness is left exposed, race car style.
Powertrain stayed untouched at the customer's request. Everything else? Reimagined.
This is what happens when you give Sonderwunsch a blank check and a Le Mans legend as inspiration.

473hp. 390lb-ft. 6 speeds. 0 pedals for your left foot to complain about. The 2027 911 Carrera S MT Package just dropped, and it's the first S model ever with a manual. Oh, and centerlocks too. Another first for the S. Coupe or Cabriolet. Debuting at Monterey Car Week tomorrow.
