Remembering Ramsey Walter El Wardani
Ten years ago today, we lost Ramsey El Wardani : racer, builder, visionary, friend, and the original founder of Agile Offroad.
Ramsey was deeply rooted in the off-road world. Under his One Man Racing mark, he became a four-time Baja 1000 class winner. His racing experience gave him the credibility to develop products for the environments they were actually intended to survive, and it also shaped the mindset that would eventually become Agile Offroad.
Later in life, Ramsey and his wife Jan bought a Ford E350 to explore and camp throughout Baja. He wasn’t satisfied with the way the available 4WD vans of the time rode or drove, so he and Glen set out to build something better.
That became the Agile Twin Traction Beam 4x4 System, and, ultimately, the beginning of Agile Offroad.
In 2015, Agile bought a Sprinter and began developing a 4x4 conversion for that platform as well. When Mercedes-Benz introduced its own factory 4WD Sprinter, the focus shifted toward suspension, ride quality, handling and capability. Work that still defines a large part of what we do today.
Ramsey was also an active member of communities like Pirate4x4, Sportsmobile and Race-Dezert, and was a close friend to John, Glen and Jesus. His longtime friend Greg occasionally shared driving duties in Ramsey’s race car.
More than anything, Ramsey was remembered as a visionary and an inspiring person. Someone who saw a problem, believed there was a better way, and went out and built it.
Ten years later, his spirit is still very much a part of Agile Offroad.
In loving memory of Ramsey Walter El Wardani
