Evolution to Revolution
Our history in mobile electronics, and music in the car, did not begin yesterday.
It began in the 1950s.
Long before modern head units and digital sound, my father, Angel Alberto Meza, a true servant of God, born February 16, 1942, entered eternal rest September 4, 2025, was already pushing the limits of what was possible. Guided by faith, humility, and purpose, he believed music could uplift the spirit as much as it could fill a cabin with sound. At a time when most people could not imagine music truly traveling with them, he was installing hi fi record players into automobiles, turning every drive into an experience, and every journey into something meaningful.
My father’s path began in the gas station business. From behind the counter, he sold AM radios and quickly realized something profound. Fuel sustained vehicles, but music moved people. That calling, paired with faith and conviction, changed everything.
He sold out of the gas stations and committed fully to car audio, opening a shop on Sickles Street in San Francisco. That first shop lived in our garage, downstairs from our home. It was hands on, family run, and built on service, perseverance, and a deep love for sound and innovation.
From those early days to today, our family has remained part of the evolution of music in the car for three generations. My father, Angel Alberto Meza. Myself, Michael Meza. And now my youngest and oldest daughters, Nicole Meza and Sarah Meza, alongside my loyal friend, Jeffrey Lesser, who together carry the responsibility of the family business and the promise of securing miles of smiles to our loyal customers.
We have been officially in business since 1962, and Cartunes in Santa Rosa has serviced in the neighborhood of 200,000 cars. That is a lot of keys, a lot of late nights, a lot of problem solving, and a whole lot of music brought back to life, one vehicle at a time.
What began with AM radios and record players has grown into a lifelong commitment to better sound, richer experiences, and memories made on the open road.
