Today's topic - brake fluid.
Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that helps transfer the movement and force created when you press down on the brake pedal. It is necessary to replace brake fluid periodically because brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it readily absorbs water. Over time brake fluid becomes too saturated with excess moisture, which causes it to degrade. The standard rule is to renew brake fluid every two years. If you're not sure when (or if ever) you last had your brake fluid changed, stop by and we can test the condition.
