Here’s exactly what we reach for in the shop:
We start with the heavy hitter — the Rupes BigFoot LH19E Rotary. This 1200-watt torque monster with variable speeds (450–1700 RPM) tackles deep scratches, heavy swirls, and oxidation on flat panels. Fast, aggressive cutting with wool pads when the paint needs serious correction — always with controlled passes to protect that clear coat.
Next up for refinement: the Rupes BigFoot LHR21 Mark V — our 21mm orbital powerhouse. It keeps the correction going across large areas while reducing heat and holograms. Perfect balance for exotics and classics.
Then our everyday workhorse: the Rupes BigFoot LHR15 Mark V. The 15mm orbit delivers smooth, consistent results for most jobs — excellent cut and flawless finishing with minimal vibration.
For tight spots and mobility, we grab the Rupes iBrid HLR15 or HLR21 cordless hybrid. 350W brushless power that runs on battery or plugs in — same pro performance without the cord hassle.
And for edges, contours, and intricate details? The smaller specialty tools like the Rupes Nano or 3” DA get the finesse work done right.
We assess thickness and defects first, then build the perfect sequence — heavy rotary when needed, followed by DA refinement for that deep, swirl-free gloss that lasts.
