The 2027 Call for Speakers closes in less than two weeks, on September 10 at 5:00 p.m. PT. If you're planning to submit, now's the time.

We're building the 2027 program around real fleet experience: what your team deployed, what it cost, and what you learned. Case studies with practical lessons and measurable results carry the most weight, across topics like fleet operations, vehicles and fuels, infrastructure, maintenance, safety, and AI and connected technologies.

We want to hear from fleets of every size, sector, and region, including:

-For-hire and private trucking
-Delivery, service, and vocational fleets
-Municipal, state, utility, and public works fleets
-Transit, school transportation, and passenger fleets
-Refuse, construction, port, and off-road operations
-Regional haul and long-haul operations

The fleets that moved early on cleaner vehicles have now been operating them long enough to know what works. Many are still expanding those programs, not because of emissions targets alone, but because they reduce operating costs, strengthen energy resilience, improve asset utilization, and meet customer expectations.

On Thursday, September 24, ACT News will broadcast live from the WSP office in Manhattan during Climate Week NYC with the executives running those programs.

Learn how these leading fleets are evaluating low- and zero-emission vehicle investments in today’s market, where the economics are working, where they still fall short, and what they have learned while moving from pilot projects to larger deployments across complex operations.

Maintaining Momentum: Why Leading Fleets Continue to Invest in Sustainable Transportation

Fleet experience is at the center of the 2027 educational program.

We’re looking for commercial willing to share what they’ve learned putting new technologies and strategies to work in real operations. What delivered results? Where did challenges emerge? What would you do differently next time?

From advanced vehicles, fuels, and to , automation, maintenance, safety, and fleet operations, the strongest case studies will give attendees practical insight they can use when evaluating their own investments and deployments.

Fleets of every size, sector, and region are encouraged to submit, from local and regional operators to large national fleets across trucking, delivery, vocational, public, passenger, and specialized operations.

📅 Speaker abstracts are due September 10 at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Atlas Energy Solutions is scaling up its driverless trucking operations in the Permian Basin.

The company plans to expand its fleet of Kodiak AI AI-powered autonomous trucks from 28 to 100 vehicles by mid-2027, with operations on public roads expected to begin in early 2027.

The expansion marks a significant step for the technology, building on driverless operations that began on private lease roads and off-road routes in 2024. Atlas is also now operating autonomous trucks from load-out locations in both Texas and New Mexico, extending the reach of its frac sand logistics network.

The move onto public roads will put the technology in a more complex operating environment, where autonomous trucks will interact with a broader mix of traffic, infrastructure and road users.

Orange County Transportation Authority is taking another step toward its zero-emission transit goals with plans for a second fueling station.

Clean Energy Fuels will design and build the $27.5 million facility at OCTA’s Garden Grove bus base, supporting the agency’s planned expansion from 10 to 50 hydrogen fuel cell buses. The station is expected to be completed in 2028.

The investment comes as OCTA continues evaluating both hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric technologies on the path toward a fully zero-emission fleet by 2040.

Hexagon Agility and IVECO BUS BUS are extending a relationship that has already supported more than 10,000 buses.

Under a new three-year exclusive agreement, Hexagon Agility will supply complete compressed natural gas fuel systems for IVECO BUS natural gas and biomethane transit vehicles worldwide.

The systems will use Hexagon Agility’s carbon-fiber Type 4 cylinders, which the company says weigh about 30% as much as comparable steel cylinders. The agreement covers the full fuel system, including storage and fuel-delivery components.

For transit agencies weighing different fleet technologies, CNG and biomethane remain part of the conversation alongside battery-electric, and other options.

Annual Class 2a–8 electric vehicle registrations were up 21% in 2025, led by pickups and delivery vans.

According to S&P Global Mobility data in the 2026 State of Sustainable Fleets Market Brief, total medium and heavy-duty registrations hit 50,095 units last year. Pickups made up 50% of that volume, and cargo vans accounted for 39%.

Fleet operators are driving the momentum. 57% of running medium-duty EVs said they're saving on operational costs compared to the vehicles they replaced, and 54% plan to grow their BEV use over the next two years.

Renewable diesel and supplied 71% of the diesel used in California in the first three quarters of 2025. It's one of the clearest signals in the State of Sustainable Fleets 2026 Market Brief that low-carbon fuels are scaling in the real world, not just on paper.

Why it matters for :
• Adoption is climbing fast: 56% of fleets reported using renewable diesel or biodiesel in 2025, more than double the 27% in 2023
• Renewable diesel is a drop-in fuel, chemically equivalent to petroleum diesel and certified to the same ASTM D975 standard, so fleets can switch without engine modifications
• In California, renewable diesel offered a 57% lifecycle GHG reduction in 2025 compared to conventional diesel

Get the full picture on diesel efficiency and renewable fuels, alongside BEVs, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, and AI.
