Renewable diesel and supplied 71% of the diesel used in California in the first three quarters of 2025. It's one of the clearest signals in the State of Sustainable Fleets 2026 Market Brief that low-carbon fuels are scaling in the real world, not just on paper.

Annual Class 2a–8 electric vehicle registrations were up 21% in 2025, led by pickups and delivery vans.

According to S&P Global Mobility data in the 2026 State of Sustainable Fleets Market Brief, total medium and heavy-duty registrations hit 50,095 units last year. Pickups made up 50% of that volume, and cargo vans accounted for 39%.

Fleet operators are driving the momentum. 57% of running medium-duty EVs said they're saving on operational costs compared to the vehicles they replaced, and 54% plan to grow their BEV use over the next two years.
