Now that we have a proper reception area, we've made it a bit of an art gallery, including a collection of photos from Terry Haanen. A while back I asked (in the LA Reporter) if anyone wanted a commission for a gay pride opossum mechanic, and a friend of Julie Walker really came through for us!

We're going to be closed on Mondays from now on, in hopes that someday there'll be at least one open parking space in our lot.

LIMITED TIME OFFER: My mom sent me really good cookies and if you come and get your car unbroken you can have one. They're chocolate chip and walnut. But like, a lot of walnut.

Brake rotors suffer substantial thermal stresses when braking on the surface layer. These cracks can needle and prod below the surface layer to lead to rotor failure during the next high-g braking event. Making sure a customer is safe when conducting a brake inspection is more than just measuring pad thickness and guessing.

The rotors off this vehicle were able to be turned on a lathe to remove the surface layer before the cracks penetrated too deep - meaning no sudden brake pedal surprise, no unnecessary expense, no worries.

See comments for what the brake pad looked like.

Brake pads stop the car.

Brake pads treated with anti-squeal compound stop the car and preserve your sanity. And sometimes they're cute as all heck.

We've been through five brands of brake pads to find one that reliably won't squeak in our dusty environment - but even then they need a little flair to make absolutely sure you don't attract any attention when you come to a stop.

Is your car makin' the big squeak? Turn those sad pads into uncomfortably happy pads - full of life and zestful for adventure. Every time you stop these little guys will be cheering you on. Just not onto that Suzuki that just cut you off.

A widely attributed quote from Einstein is “If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” Car repair is expensive and mystical - we make sure you know exactly what you're spending your hard earned money on and why. No over-the-top explanations about blinker fluid, wallet flushes, exorbitant diagnostic fees.

Our goal is to get you there with as little BS as possible. If you want to see or keep your broken parts, you can expect us to be upfront and tell you exactly how she ain't workin' how she should.

We ensure everyone is satisfied with with their repair and there are no unanswered questions. With one of the longest nationwide warranties on our repairs at 36k miles/36 months, no fine-print, you can be assured that the problem is fixed correctly the first time with no wool-pulling.

Hence according to Google reviews we are the highest rated shop in Santa Fe and the northern New Mexico area. I appreciate all the good word y'all have left us. Thank you very much for helping us change this industry up a lil bit.

Saturdays have been manned by one person while we've been in Santa Fe, and it is too difficult to continue this for the near future while still being able to focus on providing the level of repair you expect for walk-in appointments. Saturdays have now become by appointment only, and are always available for pickup and dropoff.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I know how difficult it is for our Los Alamos customers to make the commute and I started Saturday hours to make it easier, but it is taxing to keep up. Our hope is to eventually offer 7-day service for any kind of emergency, but that will be in the 1-2 year future.
