🔑🚗 LEARN FROM MIKE & NICK’S: What do those ignition key positions actually mean?

You turn the key every day, but do you know what each position is doing?

LOCK/OFF 🔒 — The engine is off, and on many keyed vehicles this is where the key can be removed and the steering may lock.

ACC (Accessory) 📻 — Lets you use certain electrical accessories, such as the radio, without running the engine.

ON/RUN ⚡ — Powers the vehicle’s operating systems and dashboard. This is also where the key rests once the engine is running.

START 🚘 — Engages the starter to crank the engine. Once the engine starts and you release the key, it returns to ON/RUN. Exact operation can vary by vehicle, so your owner’s manual is the final word.
