Timing is set. But, Houston, we have a problem. I thought the bigger 36mm valves from the R would fit the 916 valve pock...

Timing is set. But, Houston, we have a problem. I thought the bigger 36mm valves from the R would fit the 916 valve pockets. But the 916 valves are 33mm, and the pockets just barely touch the valves during the cylinder flush cycle. Dang. Going to have to tear it down and get the pockets enlarged.

Getting close now. Shift linkage is in an adjusted, waiting on a thrust washer that I seem to have misplaced... Once it'...

Getting close now. Shift linkage is in an adjusted, waiting on a thrust washer that I seem to have misplaced... Once it's buttoned up all that's left is timing and then it's into the bike.

This is as close to an RS as anything I have gets. Lightened primary's are sweet.

Bearing crush seems to be a corporate secret. A "few thousandths" isn't really a spec. Clevite and Mahle talk a lot about the need for it, but apparently there are too many variables to make explicit statements. Luckily the guys at Carillo are willing to talk shop.
