First off, You have probably heard that we are closing up and retiring, Yes, Friday the 28 of April is our last day. I would like to thank all of the Great customers that I have had over the past 40 plus years. And fortunately, there were very few bad ones. The time has flown by really fast, But the memories will last forever. I am thankful for the income and grateful for the trust and appreciation from those that had me work on everything from their Pinto or Chevette to their most prized Shelby or Corvette. I have been privileged to be able to work on cars that needed to be hand cranked, too cars that could do wheel stands, and everything in between. I have repaired cars for people that just needed it to get them to work a few more days to cars that were show winners on magazine covers. It sure felt good when someone would hand you the keys to their 57 Chevy or their Rolls Royce and even their new truck now days that cost more than most houses did when I first started doing this work. I loved knowing that I was trusted with many of peoples most prized possessions. It's been great to be able to repair cars and trucks for many of the grandkids of my first customers. And also sad that many of those that I looked up to as a kid are no longer here. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of my dad that helped me get my first Mustang Mach1 when I was fifteen. And the guys like Bye Gordon and Alan Cole that let me use their tire machines because I couldn't afford to pay them to do it when I was young. And guys like Carl Maggert that worked at the Ford dealer taking time out of his workday to give me advice knowing full well that he wasn't going to be able to make a penny off of me. And the many other pillars of this small community that taught me everything from how to fix a car or tune a motorcycle carb or rebuild a lawn mower. The list would be pages long of the Great people of this area that helped me succeed. I would even like to thank the people that said that I wouldn't amount to anything, because I got more c's and d's in school then I got a's and b's.
You motivated me to show you that someone without a college degree can still make a good living and be successful and an important part of the community. And I really enjoyed when just a few years after high school. These same people were asking my advice and paying me to do jobs that they were not capable of doing themselves. So, those of you not doing well in school. Don't give up. Learn everything that you can about the subject that you enjoy. And then go out and build a better car or get a bigger boat then those that told you that you can't do it!! :) And most of all, Treat everyone with respect and be honest and fair in your work. And you will do well.
