I wanted to clarify my last post regarding our X15 powered 579’s ability to achieved 9+ mpg. I did not know this was going to be a controversial subject. Weekly, we have around 40 trucks that get 9+ mpg and most of the rest of the 579/680 fleet starts with an 8. We run water to water with 8% dead head and the rest loaded between 75-80K gross. I posted this to help people make an informed decision as to whether it’s profitable to do our LP program. We achieve this fuel economy because our trailers are 13’0” tall, we have the absolute minimum gap and with an 18 speed and 2.93 gears, they will cruise at 65 at apex 1180 RPMs.
