Greg’s Legacy
by Susi
It’s been nine months since we all lost Greg; a sad time for our family as we’re continuing life without him. Countless moments each day I’m reminded of him just to realize he’s not here anymore…… It still has not completely sunk in.
Greg fought a long cancer battle yet he had many incredible years of joy and success on the track, at home in his race shop and boating on Seneca lake. He really packed it all in. He did not let cancer bring him down; he dealt with the treatments, appointments and trials so he could get back to work in his race shop and on the track. I was in awe of how much he endured all these years never complaining but embracing life every day. He was a warrior.
Many “Thank you” to everyone who has reached out to me or posted something about him online. Over and over I have read every one of the wonderful tributes from his racer buddies near and far. Each so true and spot on. I’m so proud of the impact he had in the racing community and how he helped young guys go from good drivers to winning champions. He had a huge vault of knowledge and experience and he loved to pass this along and watch it all unfold on the race track.
Greg’s passion for racing led to his greatest accomplishment of building Rice Race Prep and mentoring his drivers to achieve their dreams. It would be the greatest honor for Greg and our family for Rice Race Prep to continue his legacy on the track. He left behind an entire operation that I hope will help future drivers achieve their dreams.
