Feel free to call or come by our location anytime. After serving his apprenticeship in Toronto, Elias (Eli) Manawil moved to California with his wife Janina in the late 1970s. As a mechanic for a San Francisco auto repair shop in the early 1980s, Eli was regularly requested by friends and family on the Peninsula to work on their cars. After years of repairing vehicles out of his 1 car garage in South San Francisco, the Manawil family leased their 1st repair shop just off El Camino Real in San Bruno. After one year, E&J Auto Repair was forced to move as the building was sold and torn down. In 1986, E&J reopened on San Mateo Avenue in South City. Still catering to friends and family, the limousine industry at the airport brought new clients and spread the word with locals. After 16 successful years, the opportunity to open a shop in San Mateo arose and could not be ignored. In 2002, E&J closed their South City location to focus completely in San Mateo. Today, E&J is still serving their clients as they did when they first opened. Finishing his apprenticeship in Toronto in the mid 1970s, Eli has been studying and repairing vehicles his whole life. Taking every opportunity to learn and achieve, Eli became a Master Certified Mechanic in 1997 and currently holds the certification today. As a certified Smog, Brake and Light technician, Eli regularly attends courses and trains his staff to current technologies.
