A recent trip to Ano Nuevo State Park to see the Elephant Seals.
Once you arrive at the park there is a 2 mile walk to the beach where the seals reside. About 500 yards off the beach is an island that once housed a lighthouse but is now the residence for young juvenile seals and different types of sea birds.
All of this is protected, so when humans are there it is always look but don't touch. The best time of year to see the Elephant Seals is after New Year's till March. That's when the alpha males establish and fight for their heirums.
