Easy to find humbling gratitude among the many thousand at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Grateful for the price paid at every battle, in every campaign, on every spot of ground that has seen American blood. A debt unable to be repaid, yet a reminder of the price of freedom. We are privileged to be under their review, on every departure, every return. Least we forget. A happy and reflective Memorial Day from the Relentless.

If there was ever a rockfish dressed to impress for the winter holidays, it is the flag rockfish (also called barber pole, because of their peppermint stripes). Flag rockfish can be found in waters from Stonewall Bank, Oregon to Bahia de Sebastián Vizcaíno in Baja California, Mexico but are most common between central California and northern Baja California (around Bahía de San Quintin). They live in depths from 100 to 1,414 feet and on rocky reefs. Flag rockfish are a minor component of the recreational and commercial fisheries and are taken primarily by recreational anglers using hook-and-line gear.

Recreational and commercial fishing seasons and other regulations for flag rockfish vary by fishing sector, geographic area, time of year, and are subject to in-season changes in response to updated stock and catch information.

RELENTLESS OPEN PARTY OVERNIGHT
We are fishing offshore on an Open Party 1 day trip with an early departure of 6PM on Thursday 6/27.
Targeting bluefin tuna and yellowtail. Increasing sign of bluefin, especially during the day, and yellows on kelp appear to bring in our summer fishery. We have a morning departure on Saturday so no reason we can’t fish late on Friday ;)

Hands down been some of the best fishing of the entire year. Beautiful weather, biting fish, beautiful grade. We have an Open Party 1.5 departing this Saturday night, 11/11 targeting both Bluefin and Yellowfin. Limited to 18 anglers. Bluefin between 18-200lbs with a 25-40lb average. Relentless Offshore Open Party
Once again there is very good sign of spring Bluefin tuna and we are looking forward to taking advantage of this incredible fishery we have in San Diego. We are featuring some Open Party trips through May including some mid week Overnight trips. Whew. Tough conditions in regards to current and any type of water condition this weekend. Guys had to earn each and every fish but they ground their way to 195 reds, 175 rockfish, and 27 lingcod for 20 anglers on our annual Presidents’ Weekend 2.5 Day. We’ve seen it all on this trip over the years from epic codding, limits of yellowtail, even a sample of bluefin. Hard to believe it’s come and gone for 2023. Looking forward to next year and so very appreciative of the same faces we see every year. Mikey.
