OCEAN ODYSSEY IS HIRING — EXPERIENCED DECKHAND

Ocean Odyssey is looking for an experienced sportfishing deckhand to join our crew for the remainder of the 2026 season.

This is not an entry-level position. We need someone who already knows the job, understands the workload, and can step aboard and contribute immediately.

Requirements:

• Prior experience working as a deckhand on a sportfishing vessel
• Fish filleting experience required — you must be able to efficiently and properly process a variety of sport-caught fish
• Able to work away from home for multiple days.
• Physically able to lift and carry 50+ pounds repeatedly
• Able to climb ladders between decks and work safely on a moving vessel
• Comfortable handling bait, fish, tackle and all aspects of deck operations
• Knows how to work with anglers of all experience levels
• Able to clean, scrub, load, unload and keep moving until the job is finished
• Dependable, professional and able to work as part of a crew
• Drug-free and drama-free

We run a busy boat and the workload is real.

We’re looking for someone who already knows what working the deck requires and takes pride in doing the job well.

Today we say goodbye to Captain Scott "Scooter" Losner.

Scooter took his final breath and is now fishing in eternity.

If you knew Scooter, you knew one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He always had a smile, a story, and enough fish tales to last a lifetime. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether you'd known him for years or had just stepped aboard.

The Ocean Odyssey was the last boat Scooter called home. He served as Rick's second captain for many years, sharing his knowledge, experience, and love of the ocean. When his body could no longer keep up with the demands of the job, he never lost his passion for the water. Every chance he got, he'd come back out to fish with us.

We'll miss his friendship, his stories, and his unmistakable presence on the dock and at sea.

Fair winds and following seas, Captain Scooter. May the fishing always be wide open.

Our deepest condolences to Scooter's wife, Victoria, and his many, many friends. Rest easy, Captain.
