For Dr. Christina Connett Brophy, the connection to the sea began long before she became President & CEO of the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

It began in childhood.

Her experiences at sea helped shape a belief that remains at the heart of her work today: when people understand their connection to the ocean, they are far more likely to care about its future.

On August 27, Christina brings that deeply personal perspective to the TEDxSanDiego stage with:

Maritime Museums Can Save the Ocean!

Through ships, stories, education, and shared experiences, maritime museums have the power to connect generations and inspire people to become stewards of our oceans.

We hope you’ll be there to hear her story.

Can a maritime museum help save the ocean?

Dr. Christina Connett Brophy believes the answer is yes.

At TEDxSanDiego on August 27, the President & CEO of the Maritime Museum of San Diego will share a bold idea:

Maritime Museums Can Save the Ocean.

Not simply through exhibits behind glass, but by transforming historic ships into classrooms, veterans into storytellers, and visitors into people who understand that they are part of the ocean’s story too.

It is a conversation about history, connection, responsibility, and what becomes possible when we begin to see the sea differently.

“Great exploring experience…”

We want you to have time to truly explore.

Historic ships have a way of pulling you in. One deck becomes another, one story leads to the next, and suddenly you realize there is a lot more here than you expected.

We love hearing that our team helped make this guest’s visit even better.

There’s always more to discover at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

There are evenings that remind us to slow down.

Tonight, San Salvador made her way home across San Diego Bay, arriving at the waterfront beneath a beautiful sunset.

The water was calm. The sky was glowing. And for a moment, everything seemed to move just a little slower.

This is our waterfront. A place to walk, to explore, to watch the ships come and go, and sometimes, simply to stop and take it all in.

Life moves quickly. Don’t forget to step outside, look toward the water, and enjoy the beautiful place we get to call home.

Come be part of the waterfront. ⚓

“Don’t skip the harbor boat tour…”

Take their advice: don’t skip the harbor boat tour!
Take a ride on Pilot or Swift.

There is something completely different about experiencing San Diego’s waterfront from the water, then stepping aboard the historic vessels that helped shape maritime history.
