Honda Fat Cat TR200 update!

Gotta clean the garage before I put some more parts on! Thankfully Spidey is in here helping me stay productive. Who else has their garage spiral into messy when they’re trying to knock out a project? 😅🙋‍♂️

Here’s a new one! Wagyu brisket was done after about 14-15 hours, from 225-250*F. Hit a nice long stall at around 165. Perfectly probe tender at 185*… usually I’m at least 195-200*. Can’t trust the thermometer, gotta trust my gut. It’s going to hold in the cooler for a few hours this morning, then warmed back up in the oven in its own tallow/au jus to serve this evening.

Who else is BBQing for the 4th of July? Let me know what’s on your grill in the comments⬇️⬇️

Fat Cat Update! While we wait on parts, I’m pushing along working on cosmetics. I liked the postal blue the cycleracks rear rack came powder coated in, but it’s not really that close to OEM. Additionally, I couldn’t find any other off the shelf color that was even close… so off to sand and scuff both the rack and tank and paint them the same color blue!

This is a new one! Was trying to make a spanner wrench to get one of our machines up and running ASAP, and couldn’t get my welder to work right. You can see some serious dookie welds going on in the background…

Then I felt an orange size ball growing in my hand. Turns out the torch was leaking gas into the handle. No gas was coming out of the party end of the torch, which I don’t even know how that could happen.

I do want to give a huge shout out to PrimeWeld for taking care of me so fast. Gene picked up my call immediately, I sent him photos while I was on the line, and he had new torch parts on the way to me the same day. It’s a CK torch, so not even a Primeweld part, and it couldn’t have been easier or faster. Can’t express how refreshing it was to be taken care of so well customer service wise.

After eating a large popcorn, and a bucket of chicken, Mr. Butter Fingers over here dropped a bolt, had to take apart the clutch side again to fish it out. Major L, and that was the only gasket I didn’t have a spare of… so we wait for a new one ☠️

I was able to get the top end “on”, just waiting for a few extra parts to come in and we can get it all assembled fully. Always fun finding out you’re missing stuff, but that’s the name of the game with a true basket case bike 🤷‍♂️

But progress is progress, and cases are clean again and ready to bolt everything up. Should have a complete engine and mounts to bolt it up in the bike within the next week or so! 😎

I’ve been quiet for a while now! I’ve been busy in the Bat Cave grinding out a lot of different projects, paying customers first! Vacation in Japan, etc. But, when I’m quiet, it usually means I’m putting in work.

Lots of progress on my *1986* Honda Fat Cat TR200. Probably said it was a 1987 half a dozen times… not like it matters too much. Stripped and painted one wheel so far, skid plate, swing arm, hubs, triple top plate, and lots more.

Finally had a few mins with clear weather to sand blast the frame, and started painting it. We’ve had a ton of rain in Texas this last season, so when I have spare time, and when I can run a sand blaster outside hasn’t lined up until this week. V***r blasting is only appropriate for some parts, others needed fully stripped of powder coat and rust, etched, and coated with some nice and thick Seymour MRO Gloss white.

More progress pics over the next few days! Stay tuned! Should have the engine together this weekend, frame finished being painted next week. Reassembly the following week 💯😎

Enjoy Trikefest, all my three wheeling buddies! Gotta pull up one of these times and see what all that fun is about 😎👍💯

2002 Honda CR250 engine, radiators, subframe, and a bunch of miscellaneous parts v***r blasted for Duran Ramos rebuild project. He genuinely had one of my favorite reactions when seeing the parts in person, and I love having clients as excited as I am to have quality restored parts to start their build.

Thanks for letting me take a few mins to take a tailgate photo, and I’m looking forward to seeing your project as it gets built and back up running again 😎✨🔥
