1972 Datsun 240Z Coupe

Engine: 2.4L I6 with twin "round top" SU carburetors
Transmission: 4-speed manual
Odometer: 94,000* miles

This is a highly original, numbers-matching (chassis, engine plate, and engine stamping) second-owner vehicle. It is a very clean example of a 1972 240Z and includes various documents dating back to the early 1990s, including some original dealer documentation. It arrived to me in non running condition in which the owner, Judy, had me comb through the vehicle to put it back into a driver condition and make it safe. All rubber components were replaced from brake hoses to water lines and fuel lines. The original tank had been cleaned and resealed, SU carburetors were rebuilt w Z Therapy parts and any items that could be v***r honed while off or service were done. Everywhere an OEM original hose was available was replaced, all heat shields and miscellaneous OEM pieces that are long gone missing or degraded on almost all examples from these 240z are all present and in great condition on this car. Choke works as it should and the car
idles great, runs and goes through all gears and stops well.

Condition & Features:

- Interior: Near-mint condition, including the carpet, panels, storage doors, glove box, and rear panels.
- Body: The car was resprayed from the original white to a period-correct finish. Some rust is present at the doglegs and the front section of the rear fenders, but there is no structural rust. None present at rails frt/rear, surface present at battery tray area and floors but very treatable. Photos of the rear seat storage, spare tire well, and floors are available to demonstrate the excellent condition of the body. There is some damage present that occurred during vehicle transport according to the owner (shown in photo).
- Interior: interior on this example is near mint with carpet, panels, storage doors, glove box and rear panels are all in very good condition. Photos are available of the bottom of rear seat storage, spare tire well and floors to show how good a condition the body is on this
- Mechanical: The car runs and shifts well, idles smoothly, and the choke functions correctly.
- Inclusions: Original jack, spare tire set, and period emergency road flares are still in storage boxes! Period-correct aftermarket wheels are currently installed.
- Notes: The non-functional period dealer A/C system was removed (due to inoperable York compressor), but all parts are included in the sale. The smog pump was also removed, though provisions for a replacement remain. The tachometer is currently intermittent and requires service.

Recent Services (Last 12 Months):
The vehicle was recently brought back to safe, reliable driving condition. Service included a comprehensive replacement of all rubber components (brake, water, and fuel lines) using OEM braided hoses where available. The fuel tank was cleaned and resealed (previous shop), and the SU carburetors were rebuilt using Z Therapy parts. Key service items include:
All coolant/heater hoses (OEM braided where available) throughout engine compartment and cab to include new OEM in dash heater valve
Thermostat/thermostat housing gaskets, OEM water pump, valve cover gasket, valve adj
New heater hose firewall grommet
New clutch hose
Fuel hoses, pump, v***r lines, filter (new OEM braided were available) , rebuilt SU's (Z Therapy kit), OEM Air filter
New Brake master, Front brake calipers, rear wheel cylinders, hoses, pads, shoes and hardware with brake booster recondition.
New set of P185-70R14 tires
New OEM Sway bar bushings F/R with OEM endlinks
OEM oil filter w/oil change and new drain plug (Valvoline VR30 w ZDDP)
New NGK plugs, wires, clips and cap on an electronic distributor upgrade
Zinc plated hardware on serviced items
New battery, OEM battery hold down, tray and cable ends
New Fuel sending unit along w/reconditioned fuel tank (tank done previously)
New Steering rack bushings, OEM tension rod bushings/sleeves, shaft coupler
New KYB struts, bellows, bushings, bump stops
New motor mounts
New hood bumper/stops

Some organization this past week.... gonna be starting these next week. One going back together, one being torn down for rebuild, another going to be prepped for its new home and one (not pictured Datsum L28) coming in for a standard refresh. 💁‍♂️

Owner has clear blue title and car can be inspected at our shop. This car came to shop non running. Sat for several years so gas, lines, injectors and related parts were removed, cleaned, reconditioned or replaced. The owner did not replace injectors as we recommended though and even though we got it running pretty well it has a misfire due to poor spray pattern/volume of original injectors. Owner is no longer interested in putting more money into it and has requested if r had anybody interested in buying.

I'll have to be clear in that the owner did not give a sale price but did give permission to PM his contact info so the details of the transaction will have to be discussed with the owner.

The car is one of the better examples of a mark 2 that I've seen in a long while. All interior is there and I would say 8/10 for completeness and condition. The car is factory, no changes, upgrades or mods.

Progress is progress....every item customer is requesting for me to R&R or refresh is getting the treatment IE: gold zinc plating, close to factory* finish, V***r honed, cloth braided hoses.

Reach out to get your bits Blasted! (Aluminum) If your familiar with the process leaves a nice semi gloss smooth finish to aluminum...beats paint and Powder finish for better than natural look.

V***r Honing is now being offered! Restore sheen and "new" look to your worn cast aluminum parts before reinstallation, rebuilding carbs bodies or cleaning aluminum heads/valve covers back to that raw finish. DM for estimates.
