Amazing hike! Only 15 minutes from Rainbow Campground!

At the Great Channels of Virginia, you can squeeze through a number of hidden sandstone slot canyons carved into a mountain! The Great Channels are a maze of narrow sandstone passageways formed by millions of years of erosion in the Clinch Mountain Range. To reach them, hike the Brumley Mountain Trail...a roughly 6-mile round-trip that takes you through forests and up to sweeping mountain views before dropping into the maze itself. Inside the channels, you’ll weave, crouch, and squeeze through towering rock walls that twist and turn like a natural labyrinth. It’s one of the most unusual hikes in Virginia and a rewarding adventure for those up to the challenge!
