This is what a fresh rock chip looks like before it gets handled.

Just kidding. Look closer.

That black-and-white board next to the van is doing the real work here. It's an ADAS calibration target, the tool we use to recalibrate your vehicle's cameras and sensors after a windshield replacement.

Modern cars rely on those sensors for lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, emergency braking, and 360 parking. Take the windshield off and they shift, even slightly, which throws off how your car "sees" the road.

The board you see here? That's how we re-teach it. A high-tech eye exam for your car, done right in the same parking lot as the install, before you drive away.

We get this look a lot.

What you're seeing isn't damage. It's the first step of a rock chip repair, drilling a tiny pilot opening into the chip so resin can flow deep into the cracks and bond from the inside out.

Looks aggressive. Sounds worse. But it's exactly what saves your windshield.

Without this step, the resin just sits on the surface. The chip might look fixed for a week, then spread the next time the temperature drops. With it, the resin penetrates the entire damaged area, locks the glass together, and stops the crack from going anywhere.
