🚨 Loaded Semi vs. Train Recovery 🚨

We were called by a customer for an immediate response to a loaded semi vs. train accident. Initial reports advised the trailer was on its side and still fully loaded.

We dispatched our 50-ton rotator and 35-ton heavy wrecker, and due to the condition of the trailer, rerouted one of our slide axle trailers in case Iwas needed to transport the trailer.

Once on scene, we performed a full damage assessment and developed a recovery plan. The trailer was split in multiple areas, so the biggest challenge was getting it upright without it busting open and losing the load.

After receiving clearance from the train company, we got to work:

🔹 Positioned both wreckers strategically for a controlled lift
🔹 Rigged two heavy-duty straps under the load to support the weight and damaged walls
🔹 Placed the 35-ton on the low side for stabilization
🔹 Chained both axles to the frame to prevent them from being pulled free
🔹 Ran both winches to the top to pull down and remove the twist as the rotator lifted
🔹 Carefully winched the rear of the trailer back onto level ground

The tailgate was secured and placed back into the trailer. Despite the damage, the unit was still driveable. The decision was made to carefully drive it back with our team escorting to ensure it made it safely.

🚨 Heavy Recovery in the Marsh 🚨

Called by the Princess Anne Police Department for an immediate response to a loaded tractor-trailer that left the roadway and ended up down in a creek/marsh.

This wasn’t a simple pull-out.

The tractor was buried in 3–4 feet of muck. We dispatched:
🔹 Rotator
🔹 Heavy Wrecker
🔹 Medium-Duty Rollback (for debris & cleanup)

Once on scene, we supplied air to the trailer to release the brakes and rigged both heavy wreckers to the rear. Using a controlled slingshot method, we carefully pulled the trailer back between the wreckers and onto the roadway.

After getting the trailer positioned, we repositioned to the nose to lift and advance it without dragging 10+ tons of marsh mud out with it.

With the trailer and drives on solid ground, we rigged to the front of the tractor, lifted, swung it toward the road, aired up the entire unit, and winched it the rest of the way out.

Axles were pulled and the unit was transported to our yard for storage.
The tractor sustained extensive front-end damage, but the recovery was completed safely and efficiently.

Heavy recoveries take experience, the right equipment, and teamwork.
