BREAKING: (out of state) Multiple emergency crews are on the scene of a reported boat explosion at Schaefers Canal House in Chesapeake City, Maryland.

Firefighters, paramedics, and a Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopter have responded to the incident, where officials report a boat exploded, leaving multiple people injured.

The scene remains active as first responders continue rescue and investigative operations. Motorists and boaters are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes to allow emergency personnel to work safely.

Boat Explosion (Cecil County)
Schaefer's Canal House of Chesapeake City, MD

Multiple first responders are on the scene of a major incident in Cecil County, Maryland. A boat has exploded at the Schaefer's Canal House of Chesapeake City.

This is a mass casualty incident. We are hearing 3 patients will be flown out all with major injuries to include major burns. There are also at least 5 additional patients with other injuries who will be transported by ground.

There will be a total of 3 aviation units responding to this incident.
