The Miles River Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program provides hands-on sailing instruction in basic seamanship, sportsmanship and water safety for children from the ages of 6 through 18. Our goal is to develop competent, safety-minded sailors and to provide dynamic opportunities for sailors who possess the desire and aptitude for advanced sailing experiences.

Good two days of sailing in light breeze. This was our final regatta for the summer season, capping off a great summer of racing for the MRYC Race Team with 30 sailors traveling to Oxford for the weekend!

⛵️ Week 8 and our summer sailing season is complete!

Thank you to everyone who came through our program this summer, we loved having you! We closed out the season with our end of season awards banquet Sunday night, then wrapped up Week 8 by hosting our Junior Annual Regatta on Thursday.

Now that our summer is over, we look forward to starting our fall season in a couple weeks for the race teams, and for everyone else we hope to see you back in 2027!

Thank you to all those who traveled to attend our Junior Regatta on August 6th! We had a great day of racing with over 160 sailors from around the Chesapeake Bay competing across four fleets.

⛵️ 2026 USODA Opti National Championship is complete!

The MRYC Opti RWB Team spent the week at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club competing in Girls Opti Nationals and Opti Nationals, a fleet of 320 boats.

The team had two training days Sunday and Monday, raced Girls Nationals on Tuesday, then Opti Nationals Wednesday through Saturday.

🏆 Four MRYC sailors qualified for 2027 Opti Team Trials: Finley Lambert, Genevieve Yankus, Lucas Lindsay, and Millie Oliver!

🌟 Avery Lambert and Charlotte Yost also turned in great performances at their first regatta outside the Chesapeake!

The weather cooled off this week and brought some great conditions with it. Sailors in every class took advantage of the moderate breeze and really sharpened their skills as we near the end of summer.

⛵️ Week 5 Recap:

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the program Friday night at our Annual Fundraiser!

We’re officially past the halfway point of the summer. Three Opti Race Team sailors kicked off the week at NJ State Champs, all three finishing in the top third of the fleet, with two earning berths to USODA Team Trials in spring 2027.

Back at MRYC, light breeze and some haze made for a few tricky days on the water, but still a great week of sailing. We even had some dolphins join in on the fun!

Green Fleet closed out the week at Cambridge YC, competing in their weekend regatta.

Week 4, done⛵️

The Junior Sail Program had great week of sailing across every level, from Sea Kids to Race Team, with sailors building skills on the water at MRYC all week.

On Thursday and Friday, the Race Team traveled to Baltimore County Sailing Center and Gibson Island Yacht Squadron for regattas, posting two strong days of racing.
