I was able to get her back out this afternoon. Drove her for about 20 minutes with no leaks. Having that time of uninterrupted peace was utterly priceless.
Just need to button a few things up and I can drive her her again. I have so missed our little spins around the block. The short drives are the best part. They connect me with dad and the past in very profound ways. For me the appreciation is in driving this magnificent automobile.
Not the car shows. I have done my share of those also, where someone who usually doesn't know what a Packard is, walks around with a clip board and a score sheet, checking boxes on that sheet, and tells you if your car is as nice as the ones next to you, and the same trailer queens win all kinds of plastic trophys every weekend.
If you truly want to appreciate these cars, you have to drive them. They can take you back to a time when they used to make cars without computers, when people actually paid attention to the drive, and not their phones, and when people used to get dressed to leave the house.
Enjoy them the way they should be enjoyed. Let them transport you to another time when our grandparents were building our futures.
I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend! Ill see you on the road.
