What's your must-have summer RV gear? ☀️

A few must-haves from our team:

✅ A quality surge protector. Campground power can be unpredictable.
✅ A portable fan for extra ventilation. Midwest summer nights are no joke.
✅ A good outdoor mat. It keeps the inside clean and the outside, outside.
✅ A waterproof storage bin or two. Beats the heck out of "somewhere in the RV."
✅ An extra water filter. Fresh water tastes better when it's fresher.

Which camp are you in? 🏕️⚡

🔦 TEAM BOONDOCKING — Nothing between you and the stars. No hookups, no neighbors, just open land and whatever you brought with you.

💡 TEAM CAMPGROUND — Full hookups, a fire ring, maybe a camp store, and a little friendly activity around you.

Both can be a perfect way to spend a summer night in an RV. Both have their people.

Mapping out your first cross-country RV trip? Here's where to start. 🗺️

1. Build your route around must-see stops. Pick the places you can't skip, then connect the dots.

2. Cap your daily drive around 250–300 miles (and some days a lot less). You're not trying to win a race — you get to actually enjoy the thing.

3. Book campgrounds early, especially national and state parks. Some reservations open five months out and fill the same day.

4. Know your rig's stats before you go. Height, weight, and length — use an RV-specific GPS app to avoid routes that don't work for your setup.

5. Build in at least one completely unplanned day per week.

Destination of the month: Bayfield, Wisconsin.

Population: around 500. Views: Lake Superior in every direction. Things to do: more than you'd expect in a town of 500.

Bayfield is the jump-off point for the Apostle Islands — 21 islands on the largest freshwater lake in the world. You can kayak the sea caves, take a boat tour, or just set up at a campground a mile from town and watch the water for a while. There are orchards, a great food scene for a small town, and a music venue (Big Top Chautauqua) that's genuinely worth planning around.

It's about 4 hours from the Twin Cities. Most people have never been. That's exactly why it's worth going.
