Part 4 of bringing Vernon the V-Rod back from the deadπŸ”₯

After chasing a few issues, we cleaned the injectors, cleaned out the entire fuel system, replaced the spark plugs, and finally... that seemed to be the trick.

Vernon came back to life 🀘

It’s always satisfying hearing an engine fire up after who knows how long, especially when it arrived with surprises like a piece of wood in the gas tank. FYI- don’t call Harley looking for one, they’re obsolete. πŸ˜†

Now comes the real question...do I keep Vern and ride him, or sell him and move on to the next Marketplace quest?

⬇️ Keep or sell? Tell me what you’d do.

Spending thousands on parts then eating gas station food. Ya feel me?

Meanwhile the bike has premium parts, custom paint, upgraded suspension, performance everything… and I’m over here deciding which gas station hot dog or taquito looks the least questionable.

Motorcycle people really will spend thousands making the bike perfect, then survive an entire ride on beef jerky and energy drinks. It be like that sometimeπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

One of the biggest mistakes new riders make is assuming eye contact means awareness. It doesn’t. I can’t even count how many times I’ve looked directly at a driver, watched their head turn toward me, thought β€œokay they see me,” and then they STILL pulled right out in front of me.

People are distracted. They’re tired. They’re on their phones. A lot of drivers are looking for cars, not motorcycles. Your bike is smaller, your speed is harder to judge, and sometimes your brain literally doesn’t register in theirs even when they technically looked right at you.

That’s why defensive riding matters so much. Don’t ride assuming people will do the correct thing. Ride assuming they will:

β€’ turn left in front of you
β€’ merge into your lane
β€’ pull out from a side street
β€’ slam brakes randomly
β€’ drift over while texting
β€’ panic and make a terrible decision

Leave yourself an escape route. Watch front tires, not just faces. Cover your brakes at intersections. Slow down around blind pull outs. Don’t sit in blind spots. And never put all your trust into β€œwell they looked at me.”

The goal isn’t to ride scared. It’s to ride aware.

You can be completely in the right and still end up hurt on a motorcycle. Ride smart enough to protect yourself from other people’s mistakes too. πŸ™‚
