Three boaters were rescued early Sunday after their vessel struck a dredge pipe in the Cooper River near the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard boat crashes into Stono River bridge, 6 injured during search for missing plane

A Coast Guard response boat carrying six crew members crashed into the Paul J. Gelegotis Bridge over the Stono River while searching for a missing plane Sunday night.

In May, after the close of the Tall Ships Charleston festival, the Spirit of South Carolina will race to Bermuda against other ships at the festival, then sail to New England, then sail to Canada. You can go, too — for a grand total of $7,000 if you book all three.

The Lowcountry's now privately owned Spirit is joining other efforts in soliciting customers for adventure as well as educational travel, hosting chartered dock and tour events.
