First Coast Miata Club FCMC is the community for MX-5 Miata enthusiasts in Northeast Florida & Southeast Georgia since 1991.

It's time to beat the summer heat with an evening drive! This is our annual July drive to Powell's Dairy Freeze in Starke FL. This drive was a favorite of late member Jim Padgett, which is why it's named in his memory.
MEET: Saturday, July 18at 5PM. Depart at 5:30PM.
START LOCATION: Journeys Food Store/Mobil, 9206 County Rd 125, Glen St Mary, FL 32040 (same as last few years)
The 9th Annual Jim Padgett Ice Cream Drive will take us from Glen St Mary to Powell’s Dairy Freeze in Starke for a variety of cool summer treats as well as hot dogs, burgers, fries and other goodies.
We will meander thru farm and cattle country along scenic byways on roads both familiar and new with minimal traffic and few traffic lights after we leave Glen St Mary.
We will make a *pit stop* at Hardee’s in Lake Butler (not to dine- that's why we're going to Powell's!). Powell’s has a variety of food and ice cream treats! Our recommendation is the Chocolate Coke milkshake.

Gator Joe's is located on Lake Weir on a pier, the food is good, the drinks are cold and a great time will be had by all! So shine em up, fill em up and come enjoy another day of Miata adventure with your fellow miataphiles.

FCMC April 2026 Drive #2: A Drive to Micanopy with lunch at the Yearling Restaurant!

Saturday, April 25, 2026 Meet at 9AM; Depart at 9:30AM
Meet at: Hardee’s, 2730 Blanding Blvd (SR21) in Middleburg FL 32068

Come out for a little bit of Florida history and country drive to Cross Creek, where
Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings lived and wrote “The Yearling.” The drive itself will be
on country roads never taken by the club before, so it will be a new adventure. In honor of that history, we will have lunch at The Yearling Restaurant. After lunch, we will do some wine-tasting at the nearby Island Grove Winery. So be in high spirits for this spirited drive (pun intended) and join us for this new drive into the past, while we enjoy the present with your fellow Miata-philes.
