Another side effect of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown? Brand loyalty, a key observation in the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Automotive Brand Loyalty Study. Shoppers hesitated to shop around due to uncertainty surrounding coronavirus. “The time period for this study traversed nationwide lockdowns, a recovery from the worst of the pandemic and the effect chip shortages had on vehicle inventory,” said Tyson Jominy, VP of data and analytics at J.D. Power. Ultimately, Lexus ranked highest among premium brands (for the third time in a row), followed by Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. For mass market brands, Subaru ranked the highest, followed by Toyota, Honda, Ram and Ford.
