Security / Corporate Security / Executive Protection / Risk Management - the training program is off to a great start and we’ve had nearly 100 attendees through these programs in the last 6 weeks. I’m really excited about the energy we are creating and value to practitioners, their organizations, and their clients.

Feedback I’ve received supports what we know about the industry, and attendees have ranged from front line workers to Directors & business owners. Attendees feel more skilled with a greater depth of knowledge, understanding of cross-functional teams, and how to better engage in their safety / security / protective operations. Students also feel better able to create career GPS and next steps for themselves and how to level up themselves, their teams and organizations.

Training is key to building competency, breaking down silos, learning about management and leadership, and a focus on the mission and bigger picture. Today’s threat landscape, operations, and way we do business is accelerating - it’s not enough to stay up to date, we have to get ahead of the threats.

I’ll roll out more courses through August - September in Sacramento, Concord, and Alameda including classroom for technical and medical - and range time for proficiency and tactical. Once we build a solid foundation of baseline and advanced skills, we’ll start bringing in SME’s for specialty programs.

Big thanks to SAFTA & HQ Security in Sacramento for the use of their facilities & helping me reach the Sacramento market. I’d also like to thank the attendees so far in launching this pilot and the colleagues and professionals who have encouraged me and provided input to the shape of the programs.

TARGETS! Targets are critical for the training experience. When you attend a course you interact with 4 things:

1. The Instructor delivering high quality periods of instruction
2. Your gear and equipment
3. Your teammates / other attendees in the class

4. THE TARGET - which is what you actually do. It is your Key Performance Indicator (KPI) - your performance on demand - your skills and abilities demonstrated. Targets MUST DEMONSTRATE A THREAT - and SHOULD make students think, represent a variety of potential threats, and create constant challenge in the training environment.
