UPDATE: State Highway 27 has reopened after the school bus rollover near Walmart in Dardanelle.

Dardanelle Police said the crash happened at 4:10 p.m. Monday and involved only the bus. Police said the bus veered across the white fog line, entered a ditch, struck a culvert, crossed over the rear Walmart entrance and overturned.

The driver and one child passenger were taken to the emergency room as a precaution. Police also said the investigation determined the driver was not on their phone before or during the crash.

Got to do another water recovery today. Thank you to the pope county dive team for helping us out! Everyone was safe and no injuries.

Please watch out for our farmers. This accident could have been way worse. Farm equipment have the right away on the roads. It was hit so hard it busted the transmission housing.

The DIG Dardanelle Project will begin on Monday, January 19 to install a new 16” water main beneath 2nd Street from the Water Plant on Long Street to the intersection of 2nd Street and Dam Road. The first section will be from Long Street to Green Street. 2nd Street will be closed to through traffic while this section is under construction. Local traffic will retain access to homes and businesses. Please use caution when driving through the construction zone. Businesses will remain open during construction. El Proyecto DIG Dardanelle comenzará el lunes 19 de enero para instalar una nueva tubería principal de agua de 16 pulgadas debajo de la Calle 2, desde la Planta de Agua en Long Street hasta la intersección de la Calle 2 y Dam Road. El primer tramo será desde Long Street hasta Green Street.
La Calle 2 estará cerrada al tráfico de paso mientras este tramo esté en construcción. El tráfico local mantendrá el acceso a viviendas y negocios. Por favor, conduzca con precaución al transitar por la zona de construcción. Los negocios permanecerán abiertos durante la construcción.
