Read the entire thing
Dear customers, I am going to try and be as nice and professional as I can with this.. I have been nothing but chewed out and belittled for the last few months by a lot of you, I understand the frustration of me being behind and your vehicle may be taking a bit longer than I said, that being said we had a very rough winter that almost took us out of business which is the reason we are behind, it had gotten to a point where it was cheaper to shut the shop down than to keep it running.. in the last 30 days I have been told that I am stealing someone’s car even though it’s done and now just sitting here, I have also been told that I dk what I am doing regarding running my business, I have been called names I have been stressed out to the point that I don’t even want to look at my phone, I have had customers (while I was living at the shop) litteraly pound on my door to the room I was sleeping in while I was sick and took the day off to rest, just so they could chew me out.. I have had customers p**s me off to the point I don’t even want to be here. I’ve had people calling me all hours of the day and even blowing up my phone on my weekends. These are just some examples there’s a lot more that I don’t even want to mention because they are honestly rediculous. I have been threatened with court numerous times just because even though there is progress on someone’s rig apparently it is not fast enough for them…
So it’s time for me to address all of these issues…
1. I urge any customer that is irritated or annoyed with how long thier rig is taking to please go get 2 estimates from any other shop in this town because maybe then you will show some appreciation for what I am trying to do for you and help you, because once thes cars are out of my shop there will be no more “deals”
2. I will no longer have people come on to my property to disrespect me in my own place of business, I will not tolerate it and I will trespass you off the property, I have given everything I have to try and help you, I have sold everything I own just to stay in buisness because of these “deals” even my home so if your coming here to chew me out please think twice because I am done dealing with it
3. On some of the delays on the vehicles, my buisness is reliant on cash flow, meaning to beable to keep these huge projects going (especially if I’m not making much on them) I have to have constant inventory coming through the shop, a lot of the time on these older cars not only will I have 3-400 hours into them but on some of the restoration stuff I will have 8-10k in them just in materials. Some cars in here show up and end up having a lot more wrong with them then what I estimated for. Also I have built this business from nothing everything I have I pay for out of my own pocket I do not have access to business loans or lines of credit meaning if I spend 2 weeks on one vehicle it will likely put me out of business I don’t have the cash flow to focus everything I have on one vehicle I tried that over winter and that’s what started the predicament I am in at the moment.
4.BOUNDARIES, this is my personal phone as well please do not call me after 5pm or text me after 5pm, do not blow up my phone on weekends either it’s honestly getting old, you guys get to clock out at your job go home relax and not even think about work mean while I sit here and get text messages that p**s me off to the point I lose sleep over it, I understand I havnt really been picking up my phone lately, but honestly with the way I have been treated in the last few months I panic anytime the damn thing rings, I usually respond to txt messages but lately I haven’t even done that, I am tired of being treated like a slave just because I am being paid to provide a service to you. I am a person with feelings, I also have personal life that went through a lot this last winter, if I call you on a Saturday or Sunday for you to pick up your rig that’s one thing, other than that it’s none of your business if I am here on my weekends or past 5, I am typically here on weekends to catch up from constantly interrupted while I am trying to work, not to be called or harassed if I don’t pick up the phone that doesn’t mean call 5 more times. I have worked for a lot of shops and have never seen or been treated the way I have in the last 3 months I get sometimes I’m off on my deadlines but I also give everything I have to try and help you by giving you a deal that another shop wouldn’t
5. Short staffed, I have one helper just one that’s full time, please understand that if I am constantly getting interrupted or having to stop what I am doing to update someone or take pictures of thier car to send to them that it just puts me behind even further, I don’t have an office assistant to take calls or do that for me yesterday I didn’t even get to work on a car till 130 because it was one person after another, I have a new policy that I am going to be implementing and doing what I can to stick to it.
5a.From now on I will do one weekly update on your vehicle on Fridays this is for everybody, because right now I am constantly talking to people throughout the week and it takes hours out of my day
5b.from now on instead of just stopping by when ever you please you will have to set up an appointment to speak with me I will then fit you in on the schedule somewhere, it’s not fair to my helper that he’s doing so much of the work because I am constantly interrupted, it’s also not fair to me because I am getting chewed out for stuff not getting done when most of the day I am stuck talking to people, doors on the shop will remain locked and if you have an appointment I will let you in
5c. Please to don’t call me everyday for updates, the more people that get on my ass the less motivation I have, from now on you can text and set up an appointment for a phone call or to stop by. I am tired of constantly being disrespected, if you’re a new customer you can stop by for an estimate that is fine. As I said before from now on I will do my best to update you every Friday, you will hear from me even if there’s no progress.
5d. Be respectful when you talk to me. I was raised to treat people how you want to be treated, if you approach me with an attitude you will be met with an attitude, I am so tired of being disrespected, when most of the time I am doing this for way less than I should just because I have a big heart. A lot of restorations are about 20-30k
