Every rotor that comes through our bays tells the same quiet truth: no two cars wear their brakes alike.

One of the most common questions we hear is, "How many miles until my brakes are due?"

People want one number. The honest answer is a range.

Brake pads typically last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles. The width of that range is the lesson.

How you drive, what you drive, and the roads you drive on all change how fast your brakes wear. If you brake hard often, sit in heavy traffic, or tow heavy loads, your brakes may be due sooner than your neighbor's car parked on the same street.

So a rule of thumb only gets you so far.

At Gattari's in Rome, we measure pad thickness and check rotor condition. The rotor is the metal disc your pads press against to stop the car. That way the answer comes from your car and the way you drive it.

Jason has spent over 20 years in the automotive industry helping drivers find trustworthy auto service without the stress that usually comes with it. Measuring instead of guessing is a big part of that.

If you're wondering where your brakes stand, stop by Gattari's and let us measure them. We'll tell you exactly what we see.

That's how we've done it for generations, right here in Rome. Family-owned, honest work, and a team that treats your car like our own. ๐Ÿ”ง

Snow, ice and slippery roads make reliable brakes more important than ever.

Before winter arrives, have your brakes checked for:
๐Ÿ”ง Brake pad wear
๐Ÿ›ž Rotor condition
โš  Brake fluid
๐Ÿš— Overall braking performance

Don't wait until you hear grinding or feel something is wrong.

Ever seen "brake caliper" on a repair estimate and just nodded along?

Here's what it actually does.

When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic fluid pushes through the lines and needs somewhere to go. That's where the caliper comes in. It's the clamp that squeezes your brake pads against the rotor, turning fluid pressure into the physical grip that stops your wheels. โœ…

No caliper, no stopping power. It's one of the hardest-working parts in your car, and most people never think about it until something feels off.

If your brakes are pulling, squealing, or just don't feel right, come see us. We'll walk you through exactly what's going on, in plain English.

You called three shops. One came in $400 cheaper.

That number feels like the obvious choice, until you ask what it actually includes.

Here's what we check before you ever hand over the keys:

โœ… Parts: are those OEM-quality parts, or cheap substitutes that wear out fast?

โœ… Diagnostic: is it included, or billed separately later?

โœ… Warranty: does it cover the repair if it fails at 25,000 miles?

The price on the paper and what the job really costs you down the road are two different numbers. The gap between them is where most surprises live.

After 20+ years serving Rome drivers, we've watched folks get burned by a low quote more than once. So we put it in writing and we tell you straight.

That's the Gattari's difference.

Green flag: a good shop texts you the quote before touching your car.

Here's how we do it right here in Rome with the Gattari's Inspection.

First, we diagnose the problem. Then you get a written estimate with photos sent straight to your phone, before any work starts! You'll see what you're paying for and why, and you approve it before we pick up a wrench.

That way, there are no surprise line items when you come to pick up the car.

We've done it this way for generations. Honest work, straight answers, and a team that treats your car like our own. ๐Ÿ”ง
