⚠️ No gas, all breaks ⛽️

Did you know road debris causes about 50,000 crashes and 440 deaths per year, according to ABC News?? Check out this customer's gas tank that was pierced by debris from a construction vehicle on 412. Even with a Jeep's protective shield, the debris was still able to pierce through.

This vehicle has a left and right fuel cell, much like the fuel cells in airplanes. The vehicle lost all fuel from the right side instantly causing a very hazardous and scary situation.

We were able to replace the fuel cell and get this customer back up and driving. Call or message us if we can help you! And remember, things like this can sometimes be avoidable, here are a few tips to help you avoid debris on the road.

Continually scan the road ahead
Maintain a safe following distance
Reduce speed and cautiously drive through debris
Have spatial awareness

☀️Not-So-Sunny Sunroofs ☀️

With rain in the forecast and spring trees blooming, we have had many vehicles come in with water leaking in the interior of cars and trucks with sun roofs.

All vehicles with sun roofs have a draining system, with tubing running from the roofs through the body and draining under the vehicle. Think: Gutters on a house. Like our house gutters, these drains tend to get clogged over time. Clogged drains can lead to water dripping from the roof, to wet floor boards, to musty odors in carpets.

Testing and cleaning sun roof drains is usually a quick process. Message us to schedule an appointment today.

We always take vehicle cleanliness seriously, but are now going the extra mile to make sure your vehicle is thoroughly sanitized while in our care by using special equipment.

Cielo Silva, a local eighth-grader at Lingle Middle School, recently shadowed Auto Maintenance’s technicians as part of her career development class taught by Coach Craft. We all really enjoyed the day with Cielo, as she is very enthusiastic and a hard worker.

Thanksgiving is typically one of the most heavily-traveled holidays of the year. If you're taking a road-trip to be with your loved ones, we encourage you to tend to a couple of automotive basics before you head out.

For trips of any distance - especially to areas with colder temperatures - make sure your battery is in good working order, all your interior and exterior lights are functional, and that your antifreeze is full and free of debris. It never hurts to have a good pair of jumper cables and a flashlight with fresh batteries as a backup plan.

It's no secret that with more traffic comes more accidents, so please make sure to be vigilant in obeying speed limits and other regulations.

Regardless of whether you're headed out or holing up at the house, we at Auto Maintenance wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving!

New school year presents classic roadway challenges

The start of a new school year also means a new method of transportation for many students from elementary to high school. This obviously presents challenges for them - and for those of us they share the road with. (Gulp)

Some of our elementary-aged pupils may be riding the schoolbus all by themselves starting this year. Some of our high-school students may be making their inaugural solo drive on the first day of class. Others may be in that awkward, in-between phase where they feel too old to ride the bus, but are too stubborn to ask for a ride from an older sibling or parent. So they usually just walk.

These kids already have a lot on their minds, so some of them may - just for a second - neglect to put safety first while they're traveling to and from school. So it's up to us to put away our phones, be vigilant near a bus stop, maintain the posted speed in school zones, and basically be ready to bust out our best defensive driving skills when necessary. That way, if a first-grader sprints across the road without a crossing guard, or if a sophomore gets a lead foot through a yellow light, we will be ready and alert to ensure their split-second mistake doesn't become a life-altering accident.

We don't do a ton of glass work, but it's that time of year when lawn tools send rocks flyin' and windows shatterin'. So we try to help customers by replacing windows when we're able - like today when Auto Maintenance Tech Bridgett Cox replaced the rear window on this Buick Enclave.
