Had a really productive week in the R&D department at the shop this week! I had a few NKA we**ie pipe green plates to build. Built them the way we normally do which has been a good package as my customers have won tons of races with it. I would dyno each engine with the original package then would change it over to the new package, put it back on the dyno and test. It took a few engines and dyno runs before I found a combination that was successful on every engine but when we nailed the package you could see small gains around the bottom end/peak Hp, the mid range had big gains, and the top end had huge gains as each engine was over a HP better than the original package. The biggest gain of all was the total run time of the dyno pull/acceleration time as some call it which is how long it takes from when you start recording the dyno pull to when you end the dyno pull. We started recording every run at 4700 RPM and ended every run at 6100 RPM. With the package we had been running the acceleration time averaged between 10.9 and 11.3 seconds. With this new package the acceleration time is averaging between 8.3 and 8.6 seconds! I dyno tested each engine back to back on the same day. As you look at the picture the top 3 lines are the best 3 pulls with the new package and the bottom 3 are our old package. And before the Karen’s come on here saying this is unreal horsepower numbers, this is how my dyno is set up to record which I know how to use. Just as you could take one engine to five different dynos and all five dynos will read different horsepower numbers. With that being said just because my dyno says these engines are making right at 10hp now and your engine builders dyno says they make 7hp no, I’m not making 3 more HP than them! So please whatever you do do not call your engine builder next week and tell them that Bartlett Performance is making this horsepower and you know your engine by that builder only made 6-8hp so yall are off on hp and that’s why yall didn’t win. I’m not doing this post for anyone who sees this to call and complain to their builder or to leave their builder. I’m doing this post to educate my current NKA green plate customers that I don’t talk to on the week to week basis that they need to send their engines in for a rebuild and update and to also let any potential customers that have been thinking of switching to us that we have even more power!
