When temps drop fast, the air in your tires contracts.
That can lower pressure by 1–2 PSI for every 10°F, which often triggers the TPMS light even if everything was fine yesterday.

It’s one of the most common cold-weather dashboard lights we see on the space coast.

But that’s not the only cold-weather quirk worth knowing:

• Batteries crank slower in the cold (aging ones may struggle)
• Washer fluid can smear if it’s not winter-rated
• Tires get stiffer & lose traction until they warm up
• Low coolant = weak cabin heat

1971 Seat 600 D — A Classic Next to a Modern Rally Bike

This is a 1971 Seat 600 D, Spain’s license-built version of the Fiat 600.
Rear-engine, ~25 hp, four seats, and responsible for putting an entire generation of Spanish families on wheels.

Parked beside it: a 2024 KTM 690 Enduro R — fuel-injected, ABS, traction control, 74 hp, and long-travel suspension designed to handle desert rally stages.

Between the two, you can see five decades of engineering progress:
• carburetor → fuel injection
• cable-controlled → microprocessor-managed
• stamped simplicity → composite & electronics integration

In 1971, mobility meant access.
In 2024, it can also mean performance.

🚗 Let’s Talk ABS — What It Does (and What It Doesn’t)

As we kick off the new year at Toy-Lex Auto, we want to start with something every driver uses… often without realizing it: ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).

ABS doesn’t help your car stop faster —
it helps you stay in control while braking.

When you brake hard and a wheel is about to lock up, ABS rapidly pulses the brakes so:
✔️ Your tires keep rolling
✔️ You maintain steering control
✔️ The car stays pointed where you want it to go

That vibration or pulsing you feel in the brake pedal?
That’s ABS doing exactly what it was designed to do.

⭐ Toy-Lex Auto PSA: New Florida License Plate Law ⭐

As of Oct 1st 2025 Florida updated the rules — and this is one a lot of drivers don’t know yet.

It’s now illegal to have any cover over your rear license plate.
✔️ Clear covers
✔️ Smoked/tinted covers
✔️ Decorative frames that obscure any part of the tag
All of them can get you pulled over or fined.

We’ve started seeing quite a few come through the shop, like the one pictured here, and we’ve been removing them for customers upon request so they stay compliant.

If you’re unsure whether your plate cover is legal, feel free to swing by — we’re happy to take a look and remove it for you at no charge.
